Dilyor Khakimov, appointed as Uzbek Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, took up his duties, a source in the Uzbek government told Trend on Tuesday.
Last week, Khakimov delivered his credentials to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
Khakimov replaced Murad Askarov, who worked at this post from 2009 until March 2013. In March Askarov was appointed as Deputy Foreign Minister.
Khakimov has headed the United States and Americas Department at the Uzbek Foreign Ministry since 2011.
