President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree on rewarding the participants of the World War II.

In accordance with the decree, in order to reward participants and disabled people of the war, the war veterans will receive a one-time reward of 500,000 sums in connection with the Day of Memory and Honor, which is celebrated on May 9, and the 68th anniversary of the victory over fascism.

According to the decree, the related expenses will be covered by the state budget.

The Ministry of Defense, Interior Ministry, the National Security Service and the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank are instructed to ensure the payment of the reward in the solemn and ceremonial atmosphere.

As it was reported earlier, in 1941, 6.5 million people lived in Uzbekistan, more than 1,433 million of whom took part in the war. In the fights 450,000 Uzbeks were killed or went missing.

Currently, just over 5,200 war participants live in Uzbekistan.

The official exchange rate is 2059.59 sum to $1 on April 28.
