The Council of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis (upper house of the Uzbek parliament) adopted a resolution on Thursday to convene the thirteenth plenary session of the Senate on December 12-13, Parliament said on Thursday.

It is planned to discuss issues on the Uzbek state budget for 2014, as well as a job creation and employment programme for 2014 at the plenary session of the Senate.

Several laws aimed at the consistent reforming and liberalisation of all spheres of political, social and economic life will be also considered. The laws on 'Approval of the Budget Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan', on 'Environmental Protection', on 'Guardianship' are among them. They envisage further systematisation and codification of the budgetary process and improving the legal mechanisms for the protection of the rights and lawful interests of individuals who are in need of guardianship.

The law on 'Amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan' and a number of other laws are planned to be considered.

Other issues within the competence of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis will be discussed at the next plenary session, the report said.

The bicameral parliament was formed in Uzbekistan in 2005. Around 150 MPs were elected in December 2009 from four political parties and the Uzbek Ecological Movement for a period of five years, are permanently employed in the Legislative Chamber.

Some 100 MPs are working in the upper house - the Senate. They were equally elected in groups of six people from the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and Tashkent.

Moreover, 16 members of the Senate are appointed by the Uzbek president from the most distinguished citizens with rich practical experience and special merits in the field of science, art, literature, industry and other spheres of public activity.
