Namik Guner Erpul, who has been appointed Turkey's ambassador to Uzbekistan handed over his credentials to Uzbek FM Abdulaziz Kamilov on Thursday, according to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, the Minister Kamilov and Ambassador Namik Guner Erpul discussed the issues of cooperation in various areas, including in the promising areas of cooperation in trade-economic and investment spheres.

The parties stressed with satisfaction that in 2013, the bilateral trade turnover increased by 10.5 percent compared with the previous year and stood at over $1,346 billion.

There are 485 companies with Turkish investments operating in various sectors of the Uzbekistan's economy.

The meeting also discussed the schedule and agenda of the upcoming Uzbek- Turkish inter-ministerial contacts and meetings of intergovernmental institutions.

Namik Guner Erpul replaced Mehmet Sertac Sonmezay, who completed his diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan in early 2014.
