Uzbek ambassador to Malaysia appointed

The Senate of Oliy Majlis (parliament) of Uzbekistan appointed Murad Askarov as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Malaysia, according to the decree of the upper chamber of the Uzbek parliament.

The Senate of Oliy Majlis (parliament) of Uzbekistan appointed Murad Askarov as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Malaysia, according to the decree of the upper chamber of the Uzbek parliament.

Murad Askarov is a career diplomat. After graduating the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent in 1997, he has been working in the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan.

Askarov headed the analysis and foreign policy strategy department under the foreign ministry in 2006. He has served as the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the United Nations since 2009. He was appointed Deputy Foreign Minister upon President Karimov's decree in March 2013.

Askarov is a Doctor of Political Science. Besides native Uzbek language, he speaks Russian, English, German and Turkish.

Askarov will replace Shukur Sobitov appointed to the post in 2009.
