Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies will open a department of sinology in accordance with the decree of president Islam Karimov adopted in early September.

The faculty will prepare highly qualified sinologists-specialists fluent in Chinese and having in-depth knowledge in the areas of history, culture, politics and economy of China, according to the decree "On the establishment of the department of sinology in the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies", published in the electronic media of Uzbekistan.

Training of sinologists-specialists will be based on the introduction of advanced methods of teaching using modern teaching, information and communication technologies.

The president instructed the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Uzbekistan, as well as the university administration of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies to form educational groups of students with specialization in sinology out of the number of quotas for admission to undergraduate 2014/2015 academic year in the following areas of education: the Chinese Philology - 34 people, world politics - 25 people and the country's economy and geography - 25 people.

The Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade as well as Ministry of Foreign Affairs were instructed to work out and implement a set of measures by December this year to develop a partnership between the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies and the leading professional Chinese universities and institutes to attract famous experts and scientists-sinologists for work and teaching at the institute, for organization of internships for students and teachers of Sinology faculty, implementation of joint training and research programs, the further development of the activities of the Confucius Institute under the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, as well as to attract grants for the organization of activities of the institute.
