The Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO) Vladimir Kuvshinov and the leadership of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan discussed prospects of cooperation Oct.9, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan said.

Issues for the exchange of information, experience, experts in the field of protection and rescue of people between Uzbekistan and the International Civil Defence Organization were discussed at the meeting held during the visit of ICDO Secretary General to Tashkent.

Representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan informed the Secretary General of the ICDO about the wide range of measures implemented in the country in order to predict and prevent emergencies.

The Uzbek side also expressed its willingness to develop closer cooperation with the ICDO.

Uzbekistan is an observer country at ICDO since February 2014.

Some 53 countries are the ICDO members, whose headquarters is in Geneva, and some 19 countries have observer status.
