Another round of the Uzbek-Canadian foreign ministerial political consultations was held in Tashkent Jan. 28, the Uzbek foreign ministry said.

During the political consultations Canada's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador with a residence in Moscow John Ronald Kur headed a delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Canada.

The sides exchanged views on the bilateral agenda, cooperation within international organizations and other relevant topics of mutual interest.

The both countries attach great importance to the regular Uzbek-Canadian dialogue in the political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and other areas. They are interested in intensifying the inter-parliamentary contacts, expanding the mutually beneficial direct relations between business circles of Uzbekistan and Canada.

The sides' proposals on expanding the legal framework of cooperation were discussed at the talks.

The diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Canada were established in April 1992. Canada's Honorary Consulate operates in Tashkent. It represents Canada's diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan with a residence in Moscow.
