Uzbek President Islam Karimov attended the congress of the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen - Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP), said a message from the party's press service.
UzLiDeP has nominated Karimov's candidacy for the post of the country's president for the coming five years.
The head of state set the main areas of work in the coming years in his report, according to the message.
Karimov emphasized the importance of continuing the structural reforms and diversification of the country's economy in order to achieve high growth rate of economy.
He said that in order to develop the private ownership and private entrepreneurship, it is important to eliminate all barriers and obstacles, to strengthen the norms of the legal protection of the rights and guarantees for the business entities and private property owners.
The president said that it is also necessary to reduce the state presence in economy to strategically and economically reasonable extend. He added that the state should preserve its share in the natural monopolies.
It is necessary to continue the intensification of localization of production and expand the volume of attracted investments in the country's economy, said Karimov.
The president said it is time to start selling the shares of Uzbek companies to foreign investors. The head of state believes that this will allow to attract new technologies to the mentioned enterprises and start the export of their products and services.
Increasing the volume of drinking water, as well as the rational use of water resources is another priority area, said the head of state.
He said Uzbekistan shouldn't save funds for achieving these goals.
Moreover, the delegates of the congress said that large-scale reforms were carried out in all spheres of the social life in past years under the leadership of Karimov, according to the message.
They added that Uzbekistan's economy is developing dynamically, there is peace and tranquility in the country, which is the result of the large-scale work carried out under the president's leadership.
