The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Uzbekistan has registered the presidential candidates nominated by four political parties, the Uzbek CEC Chairman Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov said at a briefing Feb.14.
"The Central Election Commission, having considered the documents submitted by political parties, adopted a resolution on the registration of candidates running for president of Uzbekistan," he said.
The incumbent President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov was registered as a candidate for president from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen - Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP), member of the faction of the party in the parliament, chairman of the Committee on Democratic Institutions, NGOs and Citizens' Self-Governing Bodies Akmal Saidov was registered from DPU Milliy Tiklanish (National Revival), chairman of the central council Hatamjon Ketmonov - from People's Democratic Party, chairman of the executive committee Narimon Umarov - from USDP Adolat (Justice).
It was earlier reported that the presidential election in Uzbekistan is scheduled for March 29, 2015.
The previous presidential election took place in Uzbekistan in 2007.
