OIC secretary general praises Uzbekistan's achievements in social, economic development

Uzbekistan's President Islam Karimov received the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani, who is on a visit to Uzbekistan, the country's national news agency UzA reported June 9.
During the meeting, the parties noted the productive nature of the relations between Uzbekistan and the OIC.
Uzbekistan, which joined the OIC in 1996, has been taking an active part in its multifaceted activities, making a significant contribution to strengthening the role and importance of the organization in the world.
During the meeting, the OIC secretary general praised the impressive achievements in the social and economic development of Uzbekistan.
An exchange of views on the issues of mutual interest also took place during the meeting.
Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which was up to 2011 called the Organization of the Islamic Conference, was founded in September 1969 and brings together 57 countries.
