Uzbeks to have extended celebration of Independence Day

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree according to which Saturday’s day off, August 29 has been moved to Monday, August 31 in connection with the celebration of the twenty-fourth anniversary of independence of the Uzbek Republic.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree according to which Saturday's day off, August 29 has been moved to Monday, August 31 in connection with the celebration of the twenty-fourth anniversary of independence of the Uzbek Republic.

Saturday, August 29 has been declared a working day.

Thus, this year the Uzbeks will be celebrating Independence Day for three days.

The decision was made by the head of state "in order to create favorable conditions for the rest of the population and rational use of working time."

Uzbek Independence Day is celebrated on September, 1.
