IMF expects Uzbek GDP to grow 6% in 2017

Uzbekistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to grow 6 percent in 2017, according to the World Economic Outlook April 2017 report of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The Uzbek GDP growth rate will also amount to 6 percent in 2018, according to the fund’s estimates.

The IMF report said that the Uzbek economy grew 7.8 percent in 2016.

Inflation rate in Uzbekistan will be 8.6 percent in 2017 against 9.8 percent forecast earlier, and 8.8 percent in 2018, according to the report.

The inflation rate in Uzbekistan was 8 percent in 2016.

Current account surplus in the balance of payments in Uzbekistan in 2016 amounted to 1.4 percent of the Uzbek GDP, according to the report.

In 2017, the current account surplus in the balance of payments in Uzbekistan will be 2.1 percent of the country’s GDP versus 0.2 percent forecast earlier and 1.6 percent of the Uzbek GDP in 2018.

Economy of Uzbekistan will continue to grow due to the implementation of programs for the modernization of industry and infrastructure, said the IMF report.
