Uzbekistan, Tajikistan sign contracts worth $35M

Entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan signed 20 contracts worth more than $35 million as a result of the Uzbek-Tajik business forum, held recently in Dushanbe, Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry told Trend Apr. 21.

Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan organized the event with the support of the two countries’ governments.

The forum participants noted that thanks to the agreements reached between the leaderships of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, the two countries’ trade turnover increased by 5.7 times – up to the record $69.2 million in 2016, as compared to 2015.

During the event, Uzkimyosanoat JSC (Uzhimprom) signed five contracts worth $28.4 million for the supply of goods to Tajikistan, including various types of mineral fertilizers.

Meanwhile, JSC Uzavtosanoat (Uzavtoprom) signed contracts with Tajik companies Lesinvest and Taj Motors with a total amount of $1.8 million on delivery of automobile products.

Other four contracts worth $500,000 were signed by construction enterprises of Uzbekistan for the supply of construction materials to Tajikistan.

Uzbekistan will also supply food products to Tajikistan. A contract worth $2 million was signed in this field.

Uzeltehsanoat JSC and the Tajik company Nematbash have reached an agreement on the supply of $2.5-million worth household goods to Tajkistan.
