Uzbekistan's car exports to Russia increase in July

Russia purchased more than 6,220 Ravon cars from the Uzbek-American joint venture GM Uzbekistan (formerly UzDaewooAuto) in January-July 2017.

Russia purchased more than 6,220 Ravon cars from the Uzbek-American joint venture GM Uzbekistan (formerly UzDaewooAuto) in January-July 2017.

This was stated in the information published on the website of the Automobile Manufacturers Committee of the Association of European Businesses (AEB).

As many as 1,275 cars were exported to Russia in July 2017 compared to 237 cars in July 2016, the Committee reported.

Share of GM Uzbekistan in the Russian market stood at the level of 0.7 percent in the first seven months of 2017.

GM Uzbekistan took the 21st place in terms of car sales in Russia in January-July 2017.

Russia remains the main export market for GM Uzbekistan.

UzDaewooAuto JSC was established in 1996 by the Uzbek government and South Korea’s Daewoo Motors.

Uzbekistan acquired Daewoo’s shares in UzDaewooAuto in 2005. Uzavtoprom (Uzbek Association of Automotive Industry Enterprises) and the US-based General Motors signed an agreement to establish GM Uzbekistan with an authorized capital of $266.7 million in 2007. GM Uzbekistan has been operating since March 2008.
