Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea Chung Sye-kyun, said the official website of the Uzbek president.

At the meeting, Mirziyoyev stressed the important role of the parliaments of the two countries in strengthening the Uzbek-South Korean relations of friendship and strategic partnership, expanding traditionally close and multifaceted cooperation.

It was particularly noted that South Korea is one of the key and reliable partners of Uzbekistan. Today, contacts are intensively developing at various levels both in a bilateral format and within international organizations.

Fruitful cooperation is underway with leading South Korean companies and banks on the implementation of priority programs to diversify industry and modernize infrastructure in Uzbekistan. Presently, the portfolio of joint investment projects in various sectors of economy exceeds $7 billion.

Bilateral relations are expanding in the scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres, medicine and education, as well as in the sphere of tourist exchange.

At the meeting, the sides noted the importance of further strengthening partnership relations between the parliaments of the two countries and their specialized committees, boosting the activities of the parliamentary friendship and cooperation groups, organizing regular mutual visits and joint events in Uzbekistan and South Korea.

Particular attention was paid to the issues of strengthening cooperation in promoting joint trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian projects, as well as cooperation within the framework of international interparliamentary structures.
