Uzbekistan’s carmaker Uzavtosanoat JSC may enter the Russian market and, in particular, localize production in St. Petersburg, Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade said in a message.
“After a series of negotiations, the Russian side offered to consider a production facility of General Motors in St. Petersburg,” reads the ministry’s message.
Uzavtosanoat unites companies of Uzbekistan’s automobile industry.
It was also noted that the GAS company is interested in working jointly with the Uzbek partners on its cars at the Samarkand plant or some other plant.
Recently, following the Uzavtosanoat delegation’s visit, KAMAZ, a Russian brand of trucks and engines manufacturer, announced its plans to deliver the chassis to the company for using it in the manufacture of special machinery.
