The Trade Center of Uzbekistan was opened in Khujand, the second-largest city of Tajikistan.

Uzbek envoy to Tashkent Shokosim Shoislamov, who took part in the opening ceremony of the center, noted that thanks to the initiatives and efforts of the presidents of the two countries, cooperation and interconnections in all spheres have reached a qualitatively new level of development.

"Uzbekistan is a supporter of the development of mutually beneficial socio-economic cooperation between the two fraternal peoples. We are confident that this cooperation will be further expanded in the future and give impetus to the implementation of new mutually beneficial projects," he said.

The Trade Center will sell industrial and food products, building materials and car parts, various drinks, sports goods and jewelry.

In 2016, the trade turnover between the two countries hit $69 million, which is almost 6 times more than in 2015. In January-May 2017, the trade between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan exceeded $70 million.
