Uzbekistan's MerrymedFarm revealed to imitate other companies’ trademarks

The State Committee of Uzbekistan for Privatization, Demonopolization and Development of Competition has considered the appeals of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. (India), Krka, tovarna zdravil, d. d., Novo mesto (Slovenia) and Ratiopharm GmbH (Germany) regarding violation of their intellectual property rights by Uzbekistan’s MerrymedFarm JV LLC.

The State Committee of Uzbekistan for Privatization, Demonopolization and Development of Competition has considered the appeals of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. (India), Krka, tovarna zdravil, d. d., Novo mesto (Slovenia) and Ratiopharm GmbH (Germany) regarding violation of their intellectual property rights by Uzbekistan’s MerrymedFarm JV LLC.

During the study of the appeals, it was established that MerrymedFarm named its medicines - Omez D SR and MRAMBRABEN - similar to Omez and Ambrobene, produced by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. and Ratiopharm GmbH.

MerrymedFarm JV LLC in its products also imitated packaging design used by Krka, tovarna zdravil, d. d., Novo mesto for production of medicines called Dexamethasone Solution for Injection and Naklofen Solution for Injection, and this was confirmed by the Agency for Intellectual Property of Uzbekistan.

Thus, it was established that MerrymedFarm JV LLC violated the Law of Uzbekistan on Competition and the company was issued the relevant instructions to eliminate the violations identified.
