Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting with Kyrgyzstan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Daniyar Sydykov on Nov. 20.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for implementation of agreements reached at the high-level Uzbek-Kyrgyz meetings. The issues of bilateral agenda were also discussed.

It was noted that two important visits took place this year. Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a state visit to Bishkek on Sept. 5-6. Following the negotiations with the Uzbek leader, it is planned to increase the two countries’ trade turnover up to $500 million. The Uzbek-Kyrgyz trade turnover rose by 60 percent in 2017.

Moreover, Kyrgyzstan’s President Almazbek Atambayev visited Tashkent on Oct. 5-6. As a result of the high-level Uzbek-Kyrgyz negotiations, the two countries’ presidents signed a declaration on strategic partnership, strengthening of friendship, neighborliness and trust.
