Uzbekistan opens trade mission in China

Uzbekistan opened a trade mission in Qingdao city of China, which will be aimed at solving certain issues of bilateral cooperation, Uzbek media reported on March 6.

According to the information, the project is carried out by Uzbek embassy in China jointly with the “One Belt One Road” Chinese innovative cooperation center.

The mission will assist Uzbek entrepreneurs in realization of services and goods in the Chinese market. It will also promote strengthening of trade and economic relations, stirring up cooperation in innovations and tourism sphere.

One of the most important activity spheres of the new structure is the educational sphere. The Uzbek mission will establish partnership with more than 600 higher educational facilities of China within the framework of the Study in China Admission System (SICAS) program. This will allow to create additional possibilities for young people from Uzbekistan interested in getting education in China.

Another activity sphere of the mission is visa support. According to the experts, number of Chinese tourists willing to visit Uzbekistan is growing. The mission’s office will have a visa center which will help solving visa acquisition issues by simplifying registration of exit documents and will become a considerable step towards bilateral cooperation in the tourism sphere.

China is in the Top-3 foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan and is the largest investor to the Uzbek economy. The two countries are planning to increase the trade volume to $10 billion until 2020.

Currently, 704 enterprises with the Chinese investments are operating in Uzbekistan, including 88 businesses with 100-percent foreign assets. Representative offices of 73 companies from China are currently operating in Uzbekistan.
