Uzbekistan increases number of industrial enterprises

The number of industrial enterprises in Uzbekistan in January 2021 increased by 1.7 times, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the State Statistics Committee, the growth rate of new firms in Uzbekistan increased by 1.3 percent, which led to the creation of 8,722 enterprises in January 2021.

In the context of industries, the growth was observed in the field of agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 89.5 percent, information and communications - by 3.9 percent, health care and social services - by 13.9 percent.

At the same time, the average growth rates in the country amounted to 18.8 percent, the highest growth rates were recorded in Surkhandarya region (30.8 percent), Samarkand region (22.9 percent), Jizzakh region (20.9 percent) and Bukhara region (19.9 percent).

“Although a coronavirus pandemic was declared in 2020, the number of industrial enterprises, even under quarantine conditions, increased by 18.3 percent,” the report says.

It is reported that the largest number of enterprises was established in trade sector – 30,357. Retail trade, except for automobiles and motorcycles, accounted for 63.5 percent, having increased by 31.9 percent in comparison with the corresponding period of the last year.
