Slight increase in prices recorded at Uzbek commodity exchange for Mar. 15-21

Goods worth 1.6 billion soums ($152,472) were sold on all trading platforms of the Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange (UZEX) for the period from March 15 to 21, which is 8.9 percent more than in the previous week, Trend reports referring to UZEX.

According to UZEX, the total volume of transactions involving small businesses and private entrepreneurship amounted to 534.3 billion soums ($51 million). As a result of electronic auctions for public procurement, the total savings of budgetary and corporate customers amounted to 2.5 billion soums ($2.5 million).

It is reported that during the reporting period commodity resources worth 1.4 billion ($133,413) soums were sold at open exchange auctions.

Thus, last week, 5,691 tons of cottonseed oil were displayed, of which 2,886 tons, or 50.7 percent, were sold. On average, 63 buyers took part in the exchange trades daily.

It is noted that the daily average price for all varieties of cottonseed oil during the period under review decreased from 12,690 soums ($1.21) to 11,045 soums ($1.05) per ton, or by 12.9 percent. By the end of the week, the weekly quotation of the first grade of cottonseed oil amounted to 13,053 soums ($1.24) per ton.

At the same time, a slight increase in prices was recorded for sugar. During the past week, 10,444 of sugar were put up for sale, of which 9,501 tons, or 91 percent, were sold.

The daily average price for sugar of all categories insignificantly increased from 6,980 soums ($0.67) to 7,094 soums ($0.68) per ton or by 1.6 percent. According to the results of exchange trading, the weekly weighted average price for local sugar of the third category amounted to 7,150 soums per ton ($0.68).

In addition, during the past week, 264,679 tons of cement were put up for sale, of which 207,906 tons, or 78.5 percent, were sold. The daily volume of cement sales averaged 41,600 tons.

Over the past week, the daily average price for cement of all brands practically did not change compared to the beginning of the week and on Friday amounted to 571,400 soums per ton ($54.45).
