Uzbekistan building power unit complex for nuclear plant in Jizzakh region

The construction of a complex of two power units for a nuclear power plant located in the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan will begin in 2022, Trend reports citing the report of Eurasian Development Bank.

According to the report, the project for the construction of the nuclear power plant is estimated at $11 billion.

“Currently, there are no operating nuclear power plants in the Central Asia region. Uzbekistan is implementing the project of the first nuclear power plant in the region which will be commissioned in 2028,” says in the report.

The Russian Rosatom state atomic energy corporation will participate in the project, within the framework of the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and Uzbekistan.
