Uzbekistan to consider five main directions of development of co-op with EAEU

Uzbekistan will consider five main directions of development of cooperation with Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Trend reports referring to Uzbek media outlets.

In particular, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Kuchkarov talked on this matter at the Second Eurasian Congress, which wrapped up on Dec. 2 in Moscow.

Kuchkarov listed five main directions of cooperation between the country and the EAEU, including transport infrastructure, water resources and energy, industrial cooperation, the financial sector, and migration.

It should be noted that Uzbekistan's trade turnover with the member states of the EAEU is growing. From January through September, 2021 trade turnover between Uzbekistan and EAEU member states amounted to $7.8 billion, which is an increase of 16 percent compared to the same period in 2020.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, from January through October 2021, Russia became the main trade partner within the EAEU for Uzbekistan with the trade turnover between the countries amounted to almost $6 billion.
