Uzbekistan eyes to increase leather and footwear production

Uzbekistan plans to increase the production in leather and footwear industries by 3.2 times by 2026,Trend reports via Uzbek media outlets.

According to the State Development Strategy for 2022-2026, it is planned to increase the share of industry in GDP and achieve a 1.4-fold increase in industrial production.

In the regions of the country, it is planned to increase the volume of industrial production by 2026. Thus, by this period, the output of finished leather will increase by 2.3 times, footwear - by 2.8 times, leather goods - by 2.6 times, leather clothes - by 2 times, and output of other products - by 1.3 times.

According to the strategy, exports of Uzbekistan in 2026 should grow up to $30 billion. In 2021, this indicator amounted to $16.6 billion.

By 2026, enterprises in the leather and footwear industries will export products worth $1.15 billion.

The export of shoes worth $130 million will be ensured by attracting orders from such world famous shoe brands as Adidas (Germany), Bogner (Germany), Bata (Switzerland), Geox (Italy), Diadora (Italy), Pakerson (Italy), Sasha Fabiani (China).

To do this, it is planned to hold a series of meetings with the owners of these brands, familiarize them with Uzbekistan and its production facilities in the leather and footwear industry, and organize negotiations with major exporters of the country.
