BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17. The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan plans to put into operation 7 new power plants with a total capacity of 1,474 MW, including 6 thermal power plants (TPPs) and one solar photoelectric power plant (PVP) by the end of 2022, Trend reports via the ministry.

As a result, the total capacity of the energy system of the country will exceed 16,000 MW.

Previously, it was reported that the Ministry of Energy plans to build 15 new hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) and modernize 5 existing ones by 2026. This will bring an additional 868 MW of generating capacity annually.

In 2022, 7 additional HPPs with a total capacity of 173 MW will be built in the Samarkand, Surkhandarya, and Tashkent regions of the country.
