BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. Uzbekistan plans to develop new directions for the development of international tourism, the leading specialist of the Secretariat for Tourism, Culture and Mass Communications of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan Shakhobiddin Musaev told Trend.

"This year it is planned to develop the eastern part of the country, in particular, the Fergana Valley. In May 2022, an international tourism festival will be held in the city of Kokand (Fergana region). This will be a new attraction for international tourists," Musayev said.

He also noted that Uzbekistan plans to further develop traditional tourist routes in such historical cities as Khiva, Bukhara, Tashkent and Samarkand.

According to him, Uzbekistan has already begun to gradually restore the tourism sector in the post-coronavirus time, and is working closely with Azerbaijani and Turkish partners in this direction.

"At the moment, we are attracting more and more subsidies and finance to the tourism sector," Musaev said.
