BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3. The volume of non-performing loans (NPL) issued by Uzbek banks from January through April, 2022 increased by 1.4 times compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
This figure amounted to 18.1 trillion soums ($1.6 billion) from January through April, 2022, which is 5.3 percent of the total volume of all issued loans.
The volume of NPL from January through April, 2021 amounted to 12.9 trillion soums ($1.2 billion).
From January through April, 2022, the NPL of state-owned banks of Uzbekistan accounted for 15.9 trillion soums ($1.5 billion), while private banks’ NPL accounted for 2.2 trillion soums ($197.7 million).
