BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 9. Uzbekistan put into operation 5 new thermal power plants (TPPs) with a total capacity of 1,154 MW and 1 solar photovoltaic plant (PVP) with a capacity of 100 MW from January through May, 2022,Trend reports via Uzbek Ministry of Energy.

The capacity of the mentioned six plants is 9.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.

At the same time, the equipping of new power plants with energy-saving technology will save 1.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.

The plants commissioned from January through May, 2022 include:

1. Gas piston thermal power plant with a capacity of 270 MW built in the Bukhara district of the Bukhara region;

2. Combined-cycle plant with a capacity of 240 MW in the Kibray district of the Tashkent region;

3. Thermal power plant with a capacity of 174 MW in the Yangiaryk district of the Khorezm region;

4. Gas piston thermal power plant with a capacity of 230 MW in the Kibray district of the Tashkent region;

5. Modern thermal power plant with a capacity of 240 MW in the Kibray district of the Tashkent region;

6. Solar photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts, put into operation in the Nurabad district of the Samarkand region.

By the end of this year, it is planned to put into operation another new thermal power plant with a capacity of 220 MW in the Khavas district of the Syrdarya region, which will be the seventh new power plant launched in 2022.
