BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23. Executive Directors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) commended Uzbekistan’s authorities for their decisive policy response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which contributed to a strong economic recovery in 2021, Trend reports citing the IMF.
At the same time, the fund's Executive Directors noted that the side effects of the fighting in Ukraine slow down economic growth and, together with the possible resumption of the pandemic, create significant uncertainty in forecasts.
Furthermore, they supported the commitment of the Uzbek authorities to sound macroeconomic policies and structural reforms, which are crucial for ensuring macroeconomic stability and promoting inclusive growth.
The commitment of the authorities to ensuring financial stability in Uzbekistan was also highly appreciated, the report says.
