BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 2. Interest income of the banking sector of Uzbekistan increased by 32.7 percent from January through May 2022, compared to the same period of last year (18.3 trillion soums, or $1.7 billion), reaching 24.3 trillion soums ($2.2 billion), Trend reports via the Uzbek Central Bank.
During this period, the interest expenses of Uzbek banks increased by 29.6 percent compared to the same period of 2021 (11.7 trillion soums, or $1 billion), reaching 15.2 trillion soums ($1.4 billion).
From January through May 2022, the interest margin amounted to 9.1 trillion soums ($839.9 million), which is an increase of 38.3 percent compared to the same period of 2021 (6.6 trillion soums, or $607.6 million).
At the same time, non-interest income reached 3.1 trillion soums ($285.8 million), which is an increase of 60.3 percent, compared to the specified period last year (4.9 trillion soums, or $458.4 million).
