BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 1. The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) will invest $500 million in construction of a combined cycle power plant in the Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan,Trend reports via the Uzbek Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade.

This was agreed upon on November 30 in Tokyo at a meeting of the Uzbek delegation headed by the Director General of the Agency for Strategic Reforms of Uzbekistan Shukhrat Vafaev with the Chairman of JBIC Hayashi Nobumitsu.

The project will be implemented with the participation of a consortium of companies Energy de France (France), Nebras Power Investment Management BV (Qatar), Sojitz Corporation and Kyuden International (Japan).

The amount of investments attracted for construction is estimated at $1.2 billion.

The power plant is planned to be put into operation by middle of 2025. The power plant will generate 12 billion kWh of electricity per year, which will provide 1.5 million households with additional electricity.
