BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 5. Uzbekistan plans to launch a new solar photovoltaic station with a capacity of 1,040 kW on the territory of Takhiatash thermal power plant (TPP),Trend reports via Uzbek Ministry of Energy.

The station will be put into operation in the first quarter of 2023. It will generate an average of 1.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, reducing the TPP's electricity consumption by 20-30 percent and saving 628,000 cubic meters of natural gas.

Takhiatash TPP is the main enterprise providing electricity to consumers in the country’s Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region.

Uzbekistan pays special attention to the introduction of energy-saving technologies and the development of renewable energy sources (RES). It is expected to increase the share of electricity production using all types of RES to a level of at least 25 percent by 2026.
