BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 27. Uzbekistan recorded an increase in the volume of remittance inflows in 2022, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek media.
Money transfers to Uzbekistan in 2022 amounted to $16.9 billion, increasing by 2.1 percent, compared to the figure for 2021.
During the reporting month, Russia ranked first among the countries of the world in terms of remittances to Uzbekistan ($14 billion). The amount of money sent from Russia increased 2.6 times compared to 2021.
Furthermore, the volume of money transfers from Uzbekistan also has increased in 2022. Remittance inflows from Uzbekistan to other countries amounted to $2.9 billion. This figure increased by $400 million, compared to the same period last year.
Money from Uzbekistan was mainly sent to Türkiye, China, the USA, and India.
Meanwhile, the inflow of foreign currency into Uzbekistan in 2022 increased by 32 percent, compared to 2021, and the outflow of foreign currency increased by 22 percent, and this situation also affected the stability of the exchange rate (the annual devaluation was 3.9 percent).
