BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 31. Digital banking services are in high demand among Uzbek consumers, a source at Uzbekistan’s Central Bank (CBU) told Trend.

According to the source, some 1.1 million Uzbek customers use the online banking service. He noted that every bank in Uzbekistan provides online banking services to its clients.

“The CBU commissioned instant payment systems in 2020, which was another achievement in the development of the country’s digital banking system. The system allows users to make interbank payments at any time via a remote banking system,” he said.

Furthermore, the CBU representative emphasized that over the past few years, banks in the country started to launch their mobile apps.

“A large number of mobile banking applications have appeared in the country. It should be noted that ordinary banks, like digital banks, also provide their services via mobile apps,” he added.

Nowadays, about 28 out of 32 banks in Uzbekistan, have their own mobile apps, the official said.

The CBU noted that banks' mobile apps in Uzbekistan provide services such as classic loans, savings, and various types of payments, online conversion, ordering and opening bank cards (plastic and virtual), international transfers, account, and wallet management, as well as card-to-card transfer operations, etc.
