BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 18. Egyptian Cottonil Company expressed interest in the implementation of joint projects with Uzbekistan in the field of textile production, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade.

The matter was discussed between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, and Executive Director of the company Meram Gabr, during Kudratov’s visit to Egypt.

During the talks, the sides discussed Uzbekistan's investment potential and possibilities to boost industrial cooperation between countries.

Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to establish joint manufacturing of finished textile products in Uzbekistan’s Kashkadarya region.

Cottonil is the largest producer of home textiles, underwear, and hosiery products in Egypt, which also manufactures products for international brands such as Zara, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, etc.

Earlier in January, the leadership of Uzbekistan announced that the country's textile industry was included in the list of economic sectors that are expected to reach new levels in 2023. This year, Uzbekistan plans to allocate $300 million for the development of the industry.

According to the latest data from the Uzbek State Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan exported textile products worth $3.1 billion in 2022. From January through December 2022, more than 552 types of Uzbek textile products were exported to 73 countries of the world.
