Uzbekistan’s volume of fruit and vegetable export decreases in 1M2023

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 21. Uzbekistan’s volume of fruit and vegetable export has decreased, Trend reports referring to the Uzbek State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, Uzbekistan exported 67,500 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $58,400 million in January 2023.

Fruit and vegetable exports decreased by 11.3 tons compared to the figure for January 2022 (78,600 tons).

The largest share in the export fell on cabbage – 8,800 tons, followed by grapes – 7,700 tons, dried grapes – 7,500 tons, mug beans – 6,300 tons, tomato – 3,300 tons, pomegranate – 3,200 tons, prunes – 2,200 tons, and peanut – 900 tons.

In January 2023, Uzbekistan exported fruit and vegetables to Kazakhstan (23,500 tons), Russia (15,300 tons), China (7,400 tons), Kyrgyzstan (5,500 tons), Pakistan (4,800 tons), Afghanistan (2,600 tons), Türkiye (1,400 tons), Belarus (800 tons), and Iran (700 tons)

During the reporting period, the trade turnover of Uzbekistan amounted to $5.04 billion, increasing by 42 percent, compared to the first month of 2022 ($3.5 billion). Export from Uzbekistan in January 2023 amounted to about $2.08 billion, while imports to Uzbekistan - were $2.9 billion.

Furthermore, Uzbekistan exported 1.7 million tons of fruit and vegetables worth $1.1 billion from January through December 2022, decreasing by 18.5 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2021.
