Uzbekistan records decrease in mung beans exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 25. Uzbekistan exported 6,300 tons of mung beans worth $4.7 million in January 2023, Trend reports via Uzbek State Statistics Committee.

Mung beans exports decreased by 18.1 percent compared to January 2022 (7,700 tons worth $6.6 million).

The largest volume of mung beans is produced in Tashkent, Namangan, Jizzakh, and Samarkand regions of Uzbekistan.

The country exported 67,500 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $58,400 million in January 2023. Fruit and vegetable exports decreased by 11.3 tons compared to the figure for January 2022 (78,600 tons).

During the reporting period, the trade turnover of Uzbekistan amounted to $5.04 billion, increasing by 42 percent, compared to the first month of 2022 ($3.5 billion). Export from Uzbekistan in January 2023 amounted to about $2.08 billion, while imports by Uzbekistan - $2.9 billion.

In 2022, trade partners of Uzbekistan imported 122,400 tons of mung beans worth $93.5 million - a decrease of 8.6 percent compared to 2021.

At the same time, Uzbekistan exported 1.7 million tons of fruit and vegetables worth $1.1 billion in 2022, decreasing by 18.5 percent compared to 2021.
