BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13. Uzbekistan and Malaysian "Gemilang Coachwork Sdn. Bhd" company have discussed prospects of launching joint production of electric buses, Trend reports via Uzbek media outlets.

The matter was discussed between the representatives of the Uzbek Embassy in Malaysia and with the CEO and Executive Director of the Malaysian company, Pang Chong Yong.

During the talks, the Malaysian side made a presentation, aimed at providing detailed information about buses produced by the company, in particular, their characteristics, and export geography, while the Uzbek side informed about its enterprises, types, and volumes of manufactured cars in the country.

Trough out negotiations, prospects of development cooperation between this Malaysian company and Uzavtosanoat JSC, were also discussed.

Following the meeting, the sides decided to hold another meeting with the participation of Uzavtosanoat JSC to discuss prospects for cooperation and explore the possibilities of producing electric buses based on the joint venture SamAuto LLC.

Over the past few years, Uzbekistan has been demonstrating active development in the industrial sector. The country's large enterprises produce cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, as well as buses.

Speaking about the buses, Uzbekistan manufactured 114 buses from January through February 2023, increasing by 67.6 percent year-on-year (the first two months of 2022 - 68 buses). In 2022, Uzbekistan produced some 1,357 buses, which is an increase of 35.2 percent year-on-year (1,003 buses in 2021).
