The generation capacity of Azerbaijan’s power system exceeded 7,000 megawatt in 2013. Azerenergy JSC has over 200 substations with capacity of 500, 330, 220 and 110 KVA, as well as nine hydro power plants and 13 TPPs.
A planned power interchange was carried out throughout 2013 with Russia, Iran, Turkey and Georgia. The work within the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey power bridge in the territory of Azerbaijan and Georgia has been completed. The power bridge is a part of the Black Sea transmission network project, which will allow exporting electricity from Azerbaijan to Georgia and Turkey and further to Europe. The export of electricity under the project is planned to begin in 2014.
