(dpa) - Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday for a two-day visit, a Foreign
Ministry spokesman said.
Ahmadinejad was received by his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa at the
international airport at Katunayaka, 23 kilometres south of the capital, on Monday evening.
Ahmadinejad is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Rajapksa later in the day
while, on Tuesday he visits an oil refinery which is due to be expanded on the
outskirts of Colombo.
Later Tuesday, he lays the foundation stone for a multi-purpose irrigation and
hydro-power project in Wellawaya, 280 kilometres south-east of the capital, before leaving the country.
Ahmadinejad is also due to visit India and Pakistan.
