13th Iran-China economic commission meeting held in Tehran

The 13th meeting of the Iran-China joint economic commission, co-chaired by Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and Chinese Commerce Minister Chen Deming, was held in Tehran on Saturday, TehranTimes reported.

Pointing to the two states' potential in the trade, industry, science, and technology sectors, Mottaki called for the expansion of Tehran-Beijing cooperation.

He also expressed hope that the joint commission meetings would help increase the level of trade exchanges.

Chen expressed satisfaction over the notable growth in bilateral relations over the past 30 years and called for increased economic cooperation.

Three memorandums of understanding were signed at the end of the meeting.

Mottaki and Chen also held a private meeting on the sidelines of the event to discuss the global economic crisis and ways to boost bilateral relations.

Trade between Iran and China is expected to hit $20 billion in 2008
