Iran's Civil Aviation Organization has rejected reports that a cargo plane that crashed in the UAE was Iranian, Press TV reported.

Reza Jafarzadeh, a spokesman for the organization, told IRIB on Wednesday that the plane was neither Iranian nor destined for the country.

The cargo plane, a Boeing 707, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sharjah airport on Wednesday, killing all six crew members on board.

The civil aviation director of Sharjah said that the plane was Sudanese.

"A Sudanese cargo plane crashed two miles (three kilometers) from Sharjah airport shortly after takeoff. None of the crew survived," the AFP news agency quoted Sheikh Khaled Al-Qassimi as saying.

Earlier reports had said that the plane was Iranian.
