Iran's Azadi complex to host world dragon boating
Tehran's Azadi lake situated in the heart of one of Asia's largest sports centers has been qualified to host the world dragon boat racing championship in 2013, Press TV reported.
Dragon Boating has only become a popular sport in Iran for the past four years, yet Iranian boaters have been able to prove their potential as future players in the world.
Mike Haslam, President of the International Dragon Boat Federation told Press TV on Friday that he has been impressed by the progress the Iranians have made in the field.
He said he was amazed by the quality of matches held in the country's fourth national championships in Azadi Stadium.
Haslam also praised the quality of Iran's facilities.
Earlier this year, Iran's Azadi Stadium was selected as the first Asian stadium for having an intimidating atmosphere for rivals, according to Goal.com.
