The Iranian Armed Forces and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps's (Sepah) Air Force will hold joint military trainings next week, Iranian Air Defense Commander Ahmad Miqani was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency.
The military trainings will be held under code-name "Guardians of the Province sky 2". The first such trainings were held in September 2008, Migani said at the news conference.
According to him, the trainings will cover an area of 600,000 square meters. "The military trainings will cover the north-western, western, southwestern, southern and central regions," he said.
According to him, the main objective of these trainings is to provide air security, particularly, the protection of Iran's nuclear facilities. "The exercises will help to strengthen the defenses, centralize regional headquarters for the defense, transmission and analysis of signals intelligence aircraft, testing fighter jets and missiles to destroy targets," he added.
