An Iranian nuclear physicist continues his hunger strike in a US jail to protest against a court ruling that charged him thousands of dollars for an alleged failure to pay child support, Press TV reported.

Amir-Houshang Sanjari, who has been on hunger strike for the past six months, was found guilty of failing to support his children following his divorce 10 years ago.

According to the court ruling, Sanjari should pay a hefty sum of at least 72-thousand dollars in child support.

Sanjari dismissed the charges, citing judicial corruption and injustice as the main reasons behind his indictment at the court in the state of Indiana.

Once a successful nuclear physicist, Sanjari explained how he has been deliberately prevented from continuing his career over the past four years.

Sanjari's mother has also touched on the issue, saying his son has no legal representation and is therefore unable to pay his alleged debt because of unemployment.
