Iran produces new generation of IR4 and IR3 centrifuges: Iranian official

Presently, Iran produces new generation of IR4 and IR3 centrifuges, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi was quoted as saying by the Iranian Fars nrews agency.

"We hope that we will solve the existing problems in production by late 2010 and will be able to launch a new generation of centrifuges" he added.

Salehi said more than 6,000 centrifuges operate at Iran's nuclear facilities. "At the moment we started to enrich a new generation of centrifuges and we continue to accelerate their testing," Salehi added.

The country is working on two types of new generation centrifuges to create competition in the manufacture and testing of centrifuges, Salehi said.

Regarding the Bushehr nuclear plant Salehi said the work continues under the schedule." We will hold three tests before putting the station into operation," he said adding that the nuclear station will be launched within a few months.

"At present, Iran's nuclear station is working on the Pilot fusion reactor," Salehi said. "Iran will establish cooperation with countries with similar technologies, for example, such as Japan to construct the reactor."

He also added that Japan is ready to cooperate with Iran in nuclear technology. "During his Japan visit, Secretary of Supreme National Security Council of Iran Saeed Jalili discussed this issue with the Japanese side," he added.
