Iranian official: Germany involved in clashes on Ashura Day (UPDATED)

The Western security services' officials pre-planned the clashes on Ashura Day. The German diplomats are involved in this, the Iranian İLNA news agency reported with reference to the Iranian Security Ministry's representative, who refused to divulge his name.

The source said the officers also arrested two German diplomats in clashes on Ashura Day.

One of the advisers to former presidential candidate Mir Hussein Mousavi was arrested, the source said. "Based on the evidence and confessions of the arrested, he cooperated with the security forces of one of the European countries and informed them via special listening devices received from them," the source added.

Opposition supporters and police clashed on Ashura Day Dec. 27 in Tehran.

According to international news agencies, the riots resulted in the deaths of 15 people. Police arrested 550 people. According to the official information, the clashes killed eight people, including one woman, and 300 people were arrested.
