Iranian Supreme Leader: Islamic countries should support unity of Muslims and protect their rights

Islamic countries should support the unity of Muslims and protect their rights, Iribnews quoted Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as reporting.

Today Khamenei held a meeting with Iranian officials, representatives of embassies of Islamic countries and participants of the conference "Unity" held in Tehran on the occasion of Prophet Mohammed's birth.

He noted that putting the teachings of the Last Messenger of Allah to practice is one of the most important duties of Muslims, and that unity around Islam may lead to the solution of many problems in the Islamic countries and their development.

Khamenei also said that Muslim countries have geographical position, with its rich natural resources and great potential.

"Why, despite such wealth there are so many problems, in these countries, and they do not know how to use their advantages?" he added.

Among the problems in these states Khamenei called the high level of poverty, separation, regress in the development of science, not enough advanced culture, as well as the inability to defend their rights against world hegemony.

Khamenei added that Israel's "Zionist regime" commits crimes against the Palestinian people, causing a blow to Muslim unity. "However, the Islamic world behaves as if he has no relation to what is happening," he said.

"Zionist state of Israel was a perilous cancerous tumor inside the body of Islamic community, adding that the community may fend the malignant tumor and its backers only if it returns to Islam and the teachings of the respected Messenger," he stressed.

"Strengthening the position of Islam in these countries and the solidarity of Muslims will help to solve many existing problems, including the Palestinian issue," Khamenei said

Khamenei accused the U.S. and the UK in fomenting conflict between supporters of the Sunni and Shiite.

He called the unity of Muslims around the world and the protection of Palestine one of the important missions of Iran and its sharia duties.
